Vrij weinig te vertellen omtrent deze kit: de gebruikelijke Tamiya kwaliteit: pasvorm OK, maar de detailering mocht hier en daar beter...
Ik kocht deze kit kort na zijn lancering - dat moet ergens in de vroege jaren '80 zijn geweest - en liet 'm toen een kleine twintig jaar in de kast zitten.
December 2005 besloot ik er eindelijk eens aan te beginnen, en bouwde deze Tomcat over een periode van zes maanden. Om die "pantserplaten" naast de cockpit te verwijderen, bouwde ik een elektrische tandenborstel om tot mini-schuurmachine. Minder vermoeiend, en meer controle bij het schuren.
Ik koos voor het schema van de Jolly Rogers omdat - nou ja, ik vind het gewoon een leuk schema! Vermits het om een CAG-toestel gaat, bleef ik een beetje zuinig met het wheateren.

I really haven't got much to tell about this kit: it's the usual Tamiya quality. Fit is OK but the detailing might have been better in some places...

Kit: Tamiya 6301, built straight out of the box.Glue: mainly Zap-A-Gap, both super thin and gap filling. White glue for the clear parts.
Putty, polishing compound and masking tape all from Tamiya.
Decals: from the kit
Paint: Humbrol enamels 127 and matt white and Testors ModelMasters metalizers.
Sealing: Johnson's Future.
Airbrush: Badger 150
Wash: artist's oil paints thinned with turpentine.
Weathering: artists chalks and pencils.
Varnish: Revell Matt
